Another day not as planned. The calendar had me set-up to take mostly a lazy Friday of working from home, with just one short client appointment at the office.
Instead I had to get to work on my recently detained client’s case. I planned to workout late morning after running to the courthouse. Turns out my client was moved a 45 minute drive away (and I don’t have a car). Let’s just say my workout didn’t happen as planned.
My client’s arrest was a really big deal. By the end of the day a Facebook post I wrote about the arrest was shared over 4,500. I had been contacted by so many reporters that I had to stop responding to requests. I had over a 100 Facebook friend requests from strangers. I had more emails and Facebook messages than I could even count, let alone respond to. Despite having a barrage of media requests, I only gave one on camera interview because I could not respond to the rest of the reporters. And none of that includes the work that actually has to happen for my client. Did I mention that I am the ONLY person who works at my law firm?
Meanwhile Comcast missed two appointments that my partner was waiting for in between tending to his own clients and our joint business.
And, on top of this, while trying to avoid all the reporter calls coming in, I was getting texts from someone who I had applied for a temporary job with. They want me to start fulltime on Monday. I said yes, so stay tuned for updates on how that all pans out with my crazy schedule and the 80 Day Obsession workouts and meal plans.
After a very busy day of running around, and attending to a lot of things that needed to happen, I finally was able to get the workout in around 8:30 at night!
I got very few food pics. But I’ll paint you a little picture… eating baby carrots on my way to the courthouse. Standing outside the prison eating baby carrots and cashews. Texting my partner to update him on what we were eating when so that we could stay on the same schedule. Staying up late to get in my post-workout meal, even though I knew we had to get up at 6am on Saturday.
Look, the week didn’t go as planned. But I made it work. I kept myself healthy. And to be honest, that is huge. The amount of stress that came from this week is something I can’t really put into words. So being healthy is important. Taking an hour despite everything for these workouts (and Autumn’s motivational words) was one of the things that helped to keep me grounded and feeling ok despite everything.
If I can do it under these circumstances, you can do it, too.
